Student of the Month - Nilesh Chitnis

Young Nilesh had an ambition from an early age to enter the Shipping Industry. However a friend of his from shipping advised him to go for Airline Industry jobs especially in Air Cargo. This piece of advice gave him a new direction.

Moment he completed his BCom from Mumbai University through Ruparel College, he started looking out for good institutes for joining an Air Cargo course. His search led him to IHCTM - the only institute in Mumbai that is authorised for all the 3 IATA/FIATA international qualifications viz. Introductory, Advanced Rating and lastly DGR (Dangerous Goods Regulations). DGR being a widely sought after qualification in the industry. After completing his first international qualification in 2002 itself Nilesh got his first job with a leading Cargo company - Aqua Logistics as a Sales Executive. While he was continuing his job he got an opportunity through IHCTM to work at Cargo Complex as a trainee with Air India. That was a wonderful opportunity for getting exposure to cargo operations at airport as well as coming in contact with other airlines.

In the meantime, since he had also completed IATA/ FIATA DGR, Nilesh put his application in one of the leading International Airlines viz. EMIRATES, where he was selected as a trainee.

By putting his experience to work and working dedicatedly, within 8 months he was confirmed for the post of a Cargo Agent. Today he is drawing a very decent salary, almost of an MBA and riding high for he dreamt of joining the best airline and he is right there working dedicatedly for his further progress and promotion.

Nilesh comes from a middle class Maharashtrian family right from Shivaji Park, Mumbai. He is elder of the two brothers. Since he has made it really good in Cargo, he plans putting his brother in the same field. He had done a 2 years course in computers with some well advertised company but decided to leave out continuing 3rd year as the promised jobs were not given. Now he is happy that he could really make it so good in the Airline Industry within the first year itself and he is progressing by leaps and bounds. Of course credit goes to his hard work and not just the institute, though choice of right institute helped him a lot.

OT wishes Nilesh still greater heights to scale till he reaches the top and he richly deserves all the success. This story should guide many youngsters that in matters of career, it is not the first class in academics or a 3 years IT course alone but right training in any futuristic field and dedicated performance that brings bright success.
