Do At Home Facials

A regular Facial leads to relaxed refreshed looks and can also delay the onset of ageing signs, hence is a must after the age of 21 years in order to maintain the skin well and also to take care of wrinkles.

A Facial at home can never perfectly substitute a professional one but it can help you maintain your skin in between visits to the salon.

Here are some easy steps for a Home Facial.

1. Before massage, you should cleanse your face thoroughly with a cleanser.

2. Steam your face with a towel dipped in warm water. Bear in mind that over-steaming can lead to dehydration of skin and open pores.

3. With a tissue gently blot out the excess moisture and then press gently with your thumb and forefinger. Do not use nails as that can scar the face.

4. Now wipe your face with cotton soaked in skin toner - astringent or camphor lotion.

5. Start the massage using appropriate products, beginning with your neck area. Use upward strokes. Pat at the double chin. Come to the cheeks and continue to use an upward direction to lift cheeks upwards. Stroke your fingers across the cheek bone up to the hairline. Don't use too much pressure on the nose, just use your fingers lightly moving upwards. On the forehead also use upward strokes. You could also gently pat the forehead. Press on the eyebrows and smoothly run your fingers over the entire brow-line. Then dip your fingers in a bowl of cold water and cup your eyes. This is extremely soothing and relaxing as well as beneficial for dark circles.

6. Wipe your face with lukewarm water.

7. Apply a face pack suited for your skin type.

8. Keep on for 15 minutes and then wash off the pack.

9. End your facial with application of a sun screen.

Here is a list of kitchen products usually available at home for different skin types which can be used for massage and for application of packs. Remember to use the one suitable for your skin type only.
